If you’ve already been to one of our Long Island yoga classes, get ready. Something new is here. The name of the game is Long Island hot yoga, and it’s taking the Long Island yoga world by storm.
Also known as Bikram yoga (Named after its creator, Bikram Choudhury), hot yoga is an intense 90 minute workout routine involving 26 yoga positions repeated twice each. This is done in a studio room where the temperature is put up very high to encourage natural sweating of the body. This helps the body to burn more calories as the act of sweating uses up energy stored in the body. After just a few short weeks this intense workout will see the extra pounds melting off your body, leaving only lean muscle underneath.
A side benefit of working out in such a hot environment is that it increases the body’s flexibility, letting the participant push herself farther than normal to achieve a much more satisfying workout routine. This increase in flexibility allows you to have more control over the Yoga positions you perform, which helps prevent injury from occurring. You stand to gain a lot from a hot yoga class. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t attend a class today! You’ll be amazed at what it can do for you.
Students are advised to drink a lot of water before and after the hot yoga class. Classes should be attended at least two hours after eating, if not longer. Light clothes are rcommended to avoid overheating. And don’t forget your mat and towel, too! We guarantee that your clothes, mat, and towel will be drenched by the end! Please don’t forget the water for afterwards, as well. You will seriously need to restore your fluid levels after class!
