Stress is part of our everyday lives. It’s not possible to completely avoid it. However, there are ways in which you can manage your stress and keep it from disrupting your health.
However, there is an even more powerful way of stress-busting. It’s simple and easy and can be done at anywhere, anytime.
Deep breathing is simple, easy and can be practiced by anyone without much effort or needing any equipment. It’s the best way to relax even while you’re at work. Since it’s an automatic bodily function, many don’t think it would help beat your stress. However many studies have proved that it does.
There are different kinds of breathing exercises for controlling stress and managing it. However, the basic one involves breathing slowly and from the diaphragm. This would initially require some practice till you get the hang of it.
You can start by placing your hands on your stomach and chest and monitor your breathing. Ensure that the hand on your stomach rises more than the hand on your chest while inhaling. Continue too inhale and hold for about seven counts.
Once you’re done with inhaling at the count of seven, exhale releasing all the air and contracting your abdomen muscles. All the air from your lungs should be expelled while you do this.
To exhale completely do it slowly and gradually over eight counts. This should ensure that all the air from your lungs is expelled out.
Complete the whole cycle of inhaling and exhaling at least four times. Keep your thoughts and emotions positive while you’re doing it or you could say a positive word while inhaling and a negative one while exhaling. This would help you enhance your relaxation and calm you mind and keep it stress free.
