Improve your flexibility and health will improve. In order to maintain your health, exercise is important. To exercise you must be flexible.

By keeping your muscles and your joints supple, you will improve your range of movement. You will be better able to perform exercises that keep you healthy in mind and body. To maintain and increase flexibility you must stretch daily.

Moving very slowly is one of the important things to do when stretching. Any type of bouncing is not recommended. Your movements must not be painful in any way. It is best to stretch repeatedly and then hold it for about 15 seconds. Many who are just starting to exercise seem to forget about breathing. Breathing deeply is very important.

Trainers always stress that you stretch before and after any exercise session. There is a variety of stretches for different parts of your body. You can concentrate on stretching every part of the body.

You are able to do different stretches while standing. Focus on the neck by looking down at your chest and then rotating your chin from your left shoulder to your right shoulder. To remove the stiffness in your shoulders, shrug and relax. Your arms need to be stretched and there a variety of ways you can do this. Concentrate on your quadriceps by holding your ankle and pulling your leg up to your buttocks.

Other stretches can be done while you sit. Usually, they are beneficial to your legs and your ankles. You can also perform these while laying on the floor. You can also focus on your back muscles when you are on the floor.

There are actual benefits to this activity. You increase your flexibility in order to perform the daily tasks that you have to do. You also do not tire as easily. Your balance improves because you have better range of motion. Better balance improves your mobility and may help you to keep your balance in certain situations. Another positive benefit is that your blood flow increases, so your circulation improves. This can lead to faster recovery if you have any muscle injuries. You have had a stressful day and you want to relax. Well, start stretching that stress away.

Senior citizens can benefit a great deal from stretching even if they do not perform other more strenuous exercise. Seniors can maintain greater flexibility to help them in their other activities. A senior is able to do all of these while seated. This is helpful to all seniors by improving their flexibility, balance, and range of movement.
